Can You *deposit* Money At Certain ATM Machines?
Marcelo-Marriman, 2007-10-07 22:17:23
I have an ATM machine down in the lobby of my dorm tower and I know people can withdraw money from the machine, which means there's a slot for money to come OUT... but does that necessarily mean there's a way to deposit money? The reason I ask is I think it would be amazing to be able to deposit money into my bank account without having to walk 20min to my car (off campus), drive to the bank, make the deposit, park, and walk all the way back. Thanks to anyone with any insight on this.

Put the money or check and a deposit slip into an envelope, there are usually some provided at the ATM. It will ask how much you are depositing and then you will be promted to put your envelope into a slot.. (in will auto feed it into the machine.) This will (in most cases) place a temporary deposit into your account. Then, when the ATM is serviced, the same people that fill it with money, get out the deposits. They are then taken to an actual bank teller, who confirmes the deposit was correct (which is where your deposit slip comes into play) and it's "really" added to your account. Hope that helps.

Not all ATM machines take deposits, some will take all deposits while some machines will take deposits but only from the same network (brand of card). The choices all depend on who owns the ATM machine in your dorm. Other options:direct deposit from your jobmail the checks to your bankask your bank if they have an ATM machine closerfind an ATM that takes deposits on campus and switch to that bankswitch accounts if there is a bank or credit union on campus - most large campuses will have some branch within walking distance for students

- why not walk down to the atm machine in question and see for yourself?
- you're in a better position to find the answer to your question than anyone here.
- most likely, if it isn't an atm provided by your bank, you won't be able to deposit.
